How do I know which accessories will fit my Vacmaster wet/dry vacuum?

Your Vacmaster vacuum comes with either a 1 1/4”, 1 1/2", 1 7/8” or 2 1/2"” hose system. Please refer to the “Unpacking and Checking Carton Contents” section of your operator's manual to find the diameter size or measure the outer diameter of the end of the hose to determine which size accessory to purchase. You may also search for your model number on us.cleva.com and look for the Compatible Accessories tab on the product page. All items listed on this tab are compatible with the model.

Are Vacmaster branded accessories interchangeable with other branded wet/dry vacs?

Yes, all Vacmaster accessories will fit other branded wet/dry vacuums with the same hose diameter. Please refer to the "Unpacking and Checking Carton Contents" section of your operator's manual to find the diameter size.

Which filter do I use when vacuuming with my Vacmaster wet/dry vac?

Use the foam filter for wet pickup only. After vacuuming liquids, remove the foam filter and allow it to dry completely before installing a dry filter.

For dry pickup, use the cartridge filter, cloth filter, and/or disposable filter bag that came with your vacuum. Before vacuuming liquids, remove any dry filters and filter bags.

Choose the dry filter that best matches your cleaning task. A standard cartridge or cloth filter is suitable for most everyday debris, while a HEPA or fine dust cartridge filter is recommended for fine materials such as drywall dust and other small particles.

How often should I clean or replace my wet/dry vac filter?

Replacement depends on how often you use the vacuum and what you pick-up with it. After general cleaning, you can tap the filter on the inside wall of the vacuum container or brush off the debris to loosen and remove caught debris on the filter. Collection bags will also extend the life of a filter. When you notice loss in suction, it's time to replace your filter. Check to see that there are no holes or tears on the filter. If you do find a hole of tear on the filter, replace it before using.

I have misplaced my retainer plate for my cartridge filter. How can I get a new one?

A new retainer plate is included with each cartridge filter you purchase, but are not sold separately. You may purchase a new filter and use the retainer plate for the remaining life of your current filter, as well as with the new filter when you need it. Shop filters here.

Why does my wet/dry vac sometimes blow dust out of the blower port?

First check to see that the filter is attached correctly and that there are no holes or tears on the filter. If you do find a hole or tear on the filter, replace it before using. A standard cartridge filter or cloth filter is fine for most general pick up applications. If you are picking up fine dust like cold ashes or drywall dust, you will need a fine dust or HEPA cartridge filter. For some models, a collection bag can be used in combination with the cartridge filter to capture finer particles of debris.

What makes Vacmaster different from the competition?

Vacmaster strives to be innovative with design, function, and performance. We have developed an affordable Two-Stage Industrial Motor that provides higher suction power, ultra quiet operation, and combined it with a remote control on/off switch that allows the vacuum to be operated from 20 feet away. We also have the easiest to use, 2-in-1 tool, wet/dry vacuum that converts to a detachable leaf blower with the press of a button to release. Designed with the consumer in mind, Vacmaster vacuums include easy to find large on/off switches, top center handles for easy transport, tool storage on casters and power head of most models, heavy duty motors, large drain ports on larger models for faster draining, and a power cord management system.

What is a friction fit hose?

A friction fit hose fastens the hose to the vacuum port after the parts are pushed together, rather than by any other means of fastening.

Why does my remote controlled garage wet/dry vac, model VWM510, turn on by itself?

Local radio frequency (RF) devices such as a garage door opener may turn on vacuum if the power switch is left on the Remote Control position. Once you have completed vacuuming, flip the vacuum power switch on the body of the vacuum to the ‘O’ OFF position.

How often does the HEPA cartridge filter need to be changed on wet/dry vacs: VK811PH and VK1011SIWTH?

As with most vacuum filters, the answer is, “It depends.” It depends on how often the vacuum is used, the type of debris being removed, even the environment (indoors/outdoors). Our recommendation is that if you notice decreased performance of the vac, replace the HEPA cartridge filter and dispose of it properly. Using the HEPA High Efficiency Dust Bags (Model# VKCB001) at all times will significantly extend the life of the HEPA cartridge filter.

Why is there a chain atached to the bottom of the tank on my stainless steel wet/dry vac?

Later generations of our stainless steel vacs include a static discharge chain attached to the bottom of the tank. With the friction caused by circulation of air and debris during use, steel tank wet/dry vacuums can accumulate static build-up during use. A static discharge chain provides a path of least resistance to the ground, helping dissipate the build-up to minimize and even prevent the discomfort of static shock during operation.
