FAQs

What's the difference between Vacmaster Professional and the standard Vacmaster line?

Vacmaster Professional is built for heavy-duty, commercial and jobsite use, with more durable tanks, and accessory packages designed for contractors and serious DIYers. It includes the Beast Series™ and HEPA-certified models for more demanding cleanup jobs.

What size wet/dry vac tank do I need?

It depends on the job. A 6-gallon tank covers most home workshop and garage cleanup, while 9 to 16-gallon tanks suit larger renovation projects, jobsites, or commercial use where you don't want to stop and empty the tank often.

Can Vacmaster Professional vacuums convert to a blower?

Several models in this line convert to a blower for clearing debris, leaves, or sawdust in addition to their vacuum function. Check each product's feature list, since not every model includes this.

What does "Peak HP" mean, and how much do I need?

Peak HP (Peak Horsepower) is an industry standard measurement that represents a vacuum's maximum motor output under ideal testing conditions. Because those conditions don't occur during everyday use, Peak HP should be used as a general comparison between similar wet dry vacuums rather than as a measure of real world cleaning performance.

For a better understanding of a vacuum's cleaning power, look at these key performance specifications:

  • CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute): Measures airflow. Higher CFM helps move larger amounts of debris more efficiently.
  • Water Lift: Measures suction strength. Higher water lift provides greater lifting power for heavier debris and liquids.
  • Air Watts: Combines airflow and suction into a single performance rating, making it one of the best indicators of overall vacuum power.

When comparing wet dry vacuums, consider CFM, water lift, and air watts together to get the clearest picture of real world performance.

What type of filters are included with the Vacmaster Professional wet/dry vacs?

Most Vacmaster Professional wet/dry vacs include a high-efficiency pleated cartridge filter and high-efficiency dust collection bag. Some of the vacs in this line include HEPA filters. Vacmaster Professional vacs are made to filter fine dust particles down to 0.3 microns in size.

Can I use my friction-fit accessories with the SecureLock accessory system?

Yes. SecureLock™ locking nozzles and friction-fit nozzles are cross-compatible with each other. If you have existing friction-fit nozzles, you can use them with a professional vac that has a SecureLock™ hose or wand.

What size hose diameter do I need?

It depends on the job. A 2-1/2" hose diameter can handle bigger chunks of debris, while a 1-7/8" hose provides faster air speed for fine dust. Our professional line is equipped with medium to larger sized hose systems ideal for workshops, garages and jobsite cleanup.

How can I connect my 1-1/4" accessories with the 1-7/8" or 2-1/2" vacuums?

A 1-1/4" nozzle can easily be used with a larger diameter hose system with one of our tool adapters. The V21A is a 2-1/2" to 1-1/4" adapter and the V78A is a 1-7/8" to 1-1/4" adapter.
